Privacy Policy
Last updated July 1, 2026
Nevervault is a local-first Mac app. It's built so your photo and video archive stays on your Mac and under your control. In plain terms: we don't collect, transmit, or sell your personal data, and your images never leave your device.
Your photos and videos
Nevervault reads the files you point it at on a strictly read-only basis to build a search index. It never modifies, moves, copies to the cloud, or deletes your originals. The small previews and the search index it generates are stored only on your Mac, in the app's private container. None of this is ever uploaded.
What leaves your Mac
Nevervault connects to the network for two narrow purposes only:
- Purchases. Subscriptions and the lifetime option are handled by Apple's App Store (StoreKit). We never see or store your payment information.
- Complimentary codes. If you redeem a complimentary access code, Nevervault uses Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) to bind that code to your account so it can't be shared endlessly. To do this it stores a one-way cryptographic hash of your iCloud user identifier and a redemption timestamp, never your name, email, photos, or any profile.
There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. Nevervault works fully offline apart from the two cases above.
Accounts and personal data
Nevervault has no account system. You don't create a profile or give us an email address to use the app. Because we don't collect personal data, there's nothing for us to lose, share, or sell.
Data retention and deletion
All app data lives on your Mac. Deleting the app, or clearing its data from within it, removes the previews and index. The complimentary-code binding record in iCloud can be removed on request (see contact below).
Children
Nevervault is a professional tool and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and post the new version here.
